Detroit Mercy Basketball: Antoine Davis’ road from Indiana to the Titans
He has a lot of boxes to check in his final season
Davis has a lot he would like to accomplish in his final season, to finish up I asked him about what kind of goals he has in mind. “Of course, make it to the tournament and I want to win Horizon League Player of the Year.” Which, despite the gaudy numbers he has put up in each of his first three seasons has been an accolade that has eluded the 6-1 guard.
That’s the top individual goal he would like to achieve, but as a team he has big plans and wants to go out in style, saying, “The main goal for me is to win the regular season and then win the conference tournament, and playing in the NCAA Tournament and going as far as we can because we have the team to do it.”
For a young man whose first basketball memories are of his father playing for a national championship, it certainly would be fitting for the final act of his college career to come on that same stage.
Usually, every March we hear people talk about how the tournament needs to have Player X in it. That is absolutely the case for Antoine Davis, he deserves to play on that stage, and as college basketball fans we all deserve to see it.
