2021 NBA Draft: 20 most interesting college prospects at draft combine
Joshua Primo, Alabama
The 6-6 wing, who has maintained college his college eligibility is garnering a lot of buzz heading into the draft combine after producing 8.1 points and 3.6 rebounds in 22.5 minutes of action during his lone campaign with the Crimson Tide. Primo is a big-time shooting guard prospect with great physical tools and an emerging offensive game. He is a bouncy athlete who has the ability to guard opposing 1s,2s, and 3s.
But in order for him to solidify himself as a first-round draft pick this year, the 19-year-old Canadian will have to show the ability to knock down jumpers on a consistent basis and demonstrate that he has improved his game since the end of the college season.
Yves Pons, Tennessee
The undersized power forward is very athletic and a physical specimen despite being 6-6 and weighing 215 pounds. Defense is his specialty but he will have to show the ability to put the ball in the basket, particularly from beyond the arc to have any chance of being drafted.
Trey Murphy III, Virginia
The 6-9, 20-year-old sweet-shooting forward decided to keep his name in the draft on Monday as he is projected to be a late first-round selection to early second-round choice although Murphy has a chance to improve his stock with a strong performance this week.
Tre Mann, Florida
Mann took tremendous strides in his sophomore year, compiling 16.0 points along with 5.6 rebounds and 3.5 dimes per game, as he became the Gators’ go-to guy. The 6-5 sweet-shooting combo guard is projected as a first-round pick but he could improve his stock with a strong week.
Isaiah Livers, Michigan
The 6-7 forward has battled injuries the past two years but will have a chance to enhance of getting selected in this year’s draft as he has ended his college career. Livers is a superb scorer on the move and decent shooter, particularly from deep. He is also a decent rebounder, defender, and playmaker. Livers will have to show that he is healthy, score in traffic, and get by defenders off the bounce.
Makur Maker, Howard
The 7-0 foot Australian has a lot to prove after playing just two games for Howard this past season, tallying 23 points and 12 boards along with four assists in 48 minutes. He has maintained his college eligibility.
Sandro Mamukelashvilli, Seton Hall
The 6-11 Georgian native, a potential second-round draft pick, is a skilled big man who is a good shooter and passer. His athleticism, ability to defend, and rebound will be on full display this weekend.
