4. Michigan Wolverines

The job Juwan Howard has done with the Wolverines is nothing short of amazing. Winning the conference title last season, he was able to balance what was projected to be a very young roster with late transfer additions that significantly improved the overall performance of his team. Howard has experienced equal success on the recruiting trail by reeling in the top class in the nation and the end seems to be nowhere in sight for his successes in Ann Arbor.

While the on-court fit with the Wolverines is unlikely to cause any concerns, the potential recruiting wins Howard pulls in could be. The successes of the program have not gone unnoticed by recruits across the nation, and many have Michigan amongst their final teams to consider. Howard does an excellent job of utilizing his talents to accentuate their talents, but with the potential for a logjam at several positions, they should find themselves looking just outside the final contention.

3. Texas Longhorns

Thanks to their move away from Shaka Smart this offseason and subsequent hiring of former Texas Tech coach Chris Beard, the Longhorns are a program on the rise believe it or not. Despite nearly winning 20 games a season ago, Texas was only good enough for 3rd in their conference. Yet Beard’s first offseason as the program’s leader is already off to a roaring start and one that doesn’t look to be slowing down any time soon.

Despite Beard’s tendencies and player development being entirely aligned with those of Smith’s skillset, the Longhorns are drawing the interest of top players from across the country. In-state stars Keyonte George, Arterio Morris, and Anthony Black are a few of the players being heavily chased by Texas, but there are just as many elite frontcourt players still considering the Longhorns as their next home. Despite being a near-perfect fit, Smith may have to further evaluate who else is going to Austin with him for this option to truly stick.
