Texas A&M Aggies

The loss of star forward Emanuel Miller (16.2 ppg and 8.2 rpg) to TCU leaves a huge hole in the frontcourt for next season. Duke transfer Henry Coleman was a bench player as a freshman, while 6’8 Arkansas transfer Ethan Henderson also was largely a reserve player as well. And with St. Joe’s guard Jordan Hall opting not to transfer to the Aggies, they could use another player with offensive skills for next season.

The ideal scenario would be for Obanor to replace Miller’s production for Texas A&M’s frontcourt. He and Wyoming transfer guard Marcus Williams would be a solid 1-2 punch offensively and keep them competitive. Otherwise, they’ll have to hope for a major breakout campaign from Coleman inside.

Texas Tech Red Raiders

The fate of sophomore Terrence Shannon Jr. will be decided in a few days and if he leaves, the Red Raiders will effectively be starting over with a brand new roster. They brought in several transfers on the perimeter, as well as former Arizona forward Daniel Batcho and Bryson Williams, a transfer from UTEP that averaged 15.1 ppg and 7.4 rpg last season.

With center Marcus Santos-Silva back, adding Obanor would give them a versatile offensive option to pair with either Williams or Santos-Silva in the frontcourt, since those two don’t spread the floor on a consistent basis. Texas Tech, especially without Shannon Jr. will need plenty of offense to be competitive in the Big 12 next season. They’ve already landed several mid-major transfers but Obanor would be the best one they get all offseason.
