8. Winner – Oral Roberts Golden Eagles

The Cinderella team of the NCAA Tournament, Oral Roberts was led by the duo of Max Abmas and Kevin Obanor, who combined to average around 60 points combined in their Sweet 16 run. Both entered the draft after the season and odds were good that neither were coming back to the team. Both came back, although Obanor entered the transfer portal.

The good news is that Abmas is back, after averaging 24.6 ppg (1st in the nation) and winning Summit League Player of the Year. He’ll be a celebrity locally and a star to watch in the conference. And with Kansas transfer Issac McBride joining along with several other key contributors, Oral Roberts could very well make it back-to-back years dancing.

8. Loser – Florida State Seminoles

It was long expected that five-star freshman point/forward Scottie Barnes was going to around for just one year, while senior guard MJ Walker was going to graduate and move on. However, the losses of sophomore center Balsa Koprivica and breakout leading scorer Raiquan Gray were more unexpected.

That leaves Florida State still with a lot of frontcourt depth for next season because head coach Leonard Hamilton always has at least three 7’0 or taller players on the roster at all times. But outside of returning forward Malik Osborne, there’s little proven offensive production in the frontcourt. You can expect the Seminoles to find someone to break out once again but it hurt to lose both Gray and Koprivica this offseason.
