NBA Mock Draft 2021: Updated mock draft after combine and key deadline
By William Cash
I had Williams going to Brooklyn in my last mock and I think Brooklyn again goes for upside instead of best available here. There is no glaring weakness in Brooklyn’s roster positional-wise. Williams is a good scorer but needs to develop his body to be more effective. Plus, Brooklyn does not have a first-round pick in the foreseeable future. So, it is important to note that there is a good chance with Williams does not pan out at all. But with Brooklyn’s lack of first-round picks, Brooklyn takes a guy here with high upside.
Paul Millsap is going to be 37 next season and Denver could use someone who could have the potential to take over that starting role. Brown will be a developmental project but has the tools to be a solid player in the league. He already has a nice outside shot and great athletic tools. Brown is a few years away but had the potential to be a solid player in the league.
The Clippers have struggled mightily with bench scoring. Cooper could provide a nice spark off the bench. He can attack the basket very well and has nice vision which makes him a good playmaker. I think the Clippers’ draft pick depends on what happens with Kawhi. If Kawhi does not resign, this makes the Clippers a potential lottery team. That means that the Clippers would look to draft someone with a higher ceiling.
