Cameron Thomas . 24. player. Scouting Report. Shooting Guard. LSU. 169. Pick Analysis

The last of Houston’s three picks in the first round and they decide to go with Thomas. Thomas is a good scorer but has a terrible shot selection and relies just on his offensive game to make an impact. Like I stated in the last mock draft Thomas has to learn to play a complementary role if he is going to stay in the NBA. But late in the first here Thomas is a nice pick for a rebuilding Houston team.

Real Madrid (Spain). 23. 169. Pick Analysis. Power Forward. player. Scouting Report. Usman Garuba

In the first of back-to-back picks, Houston gets the highly athletic Garuba here at pick 23. Garuba is a good rebounder and has a good basketball IQ at only 19. His offensive game is very raw, and he will have to develop an outside shot. I think Houston would love to get Garuba here as he has a very high ceiling and high floor. This would also be a very nice pick and roll partner for franchise point guard Cade Cunningham to grow with.

Chris Duarte. player. 20. Scouting Report. Pick Analysis. Small Forward. Oregon. 22

The defending champs were beaten pretty badly in games 5 and 6 after Anthony Davis went down with an injury. Many holes appeared for the Lakers but the biggest one was shooting. Here at pick 22, the Lakers get the best shooter left in the draft in Chris Duarte. Duarte is already 23 so how much better he will get is remained to be seen. But he is already an excellent shooter, has good defensive fundamentals, and has an excellent IQ. This is a good pick for LA who look to add more shooters for LeBron James next season.
