3. team. 462. . . . Jayhawks

Few teams were as involved in offseason conversations as the Kansas Jayhawks, who were on a big mission to get a high-level point guard to replace Marcus Garrett. After striking out on a few targets, they were able to land Remy Martin, a multi-time All-Pac 12 player at Arizona State who averaged nearly 20 ppg the past two years.

That solved the lead guard situation, as long as he stayed in college and out of the NBA Draft. But that came to fruition towards the end of the deadline, along with redshirt freshman and starting forward Jalen Wilson. And with center David McCormack also back, it looked as if the roster was set for next season.

Then arguably one of the biggest surprises from the NBA Draft deadline came with the return of Ochai Agbaji, Kansas’ leading scorer from last year (14.1 ppg) and elite two-way player. It was thought that he would stay but his return gives the team four returning starters, with an offensive upgrade at point guard with Martin now on board.

Add 7th-year transfer guard Jalen Coleman-Lands, Drake transfer guard Joseph Yesufu, and a top-20 incoming recruiting class, and you have a quality team for next season. As long as Martin meshes well with the Jayhawks as the lead guard, this should be the favorite to win the Big 12.
