Ole Miss Rebels

The Rebels and head coach Kermit Davis have a history of landing recruits from the west coast and hope to land another one in Hunter. With KJ Buffen and Devontae Shuler gone, the backcourt for the SEC program will be fairly young, led by freshman guards Daeshun Ruffin and James White, along with rising sophomore Matthew Murrell.

This is an option where Hunter would find plenty of immediate playing time and could turn into a key piece for the Rebels. But this is a team that has been in the middle of the SEC and considering how much talent is being brought in, Ole Miss is in trouble of falling behind. Hunter is a recruit they need to land but they’ll have to make a compelling case for him to leave out west.

San Diego State Aztecs

The Aztecs have been one of the better programs out west in the past decade, regardless of conference affiliation. They should be just fine for the upcoming season, with Cal transfer Matt Bradley and Adam Seiko leading the offense. They both likely will be gone so Hunter would have the chance to come in and start as a freshman in 2022-23.

If playing in the Mountain West isn’t a big deal, Hunter could put himself into a position of being a star for San Diego State, which has proven to be a consistent NCAA Tournament team. He’d be one of the highest-rated freshmen in program history and gets to play somewhat close to home and for a better program than league rival Fresno State.
