Lohner wants to accomplish things as a team

As he enters his second year, the things he wants to accomplish are simplistic, it comes down to one thing, winning more games and he believes that this BYU has the right pieces to win a lot of them. Lohner told me, “We want to go as far as we can in the tournament and be the best basketball team we can and do it together.” It is very clear that Lohner loves the game of basketball and loves his team at BYU even more, wanting everything he can accomplish at the school to be a group effort.

The West Coast Conference is Gonzaga’s until someone takes it away from them, and while it seems as though every year that task becomes more difficult, that doesn’t mean the rest of the league is chopped liver. The Cougars should be the Bulldogs’ biggest threat and Lohner is a key reason why. I asked him what his 10-year-old self would think about Caleb Lohner today and he said, “Probably wouldn’t recognize him. I think that 10-year old kid would look up to him for sure.”

He may not recognize himself but the basketball world will recognize him more and more as the outgoing kid from the Lone Star state could be the breakout star of the WCC in 2021-22.
