NCAA Basketball: Takeaways from Team USA in 2021 FIBA U19 World Cup
Mike Miles – Sophomore – TCU – 6’1, 195 lbs – August 2002
I stumbled upon Miles while watching film on Texas players a few weeks ago, and his passing chops impressed me. He did more of the same for the USA in the World Cup. Miles racked up 27 assists to just eight turnovers.
His size limits some of the passes he can make, but Miles is creative at finding angles. He’s got a tight handle, with burst and good change of direction to free himself from defenders. Miles is terrific at operating in pick-and-roll.
To combat his lack of size, Miles has plus touch around the rim and has a variety of ways to finish floaters.
Miles didn’t shoot great from deep, but looked comfortable shooting off the dribble. Defensively he battled, but his lack of size will make it a challenge to be a net neutral at the next level. Miles should have the keys to TCU next season and I expect him to put up good numbers. He’ll need to shoot better, but he’s got a pathway to being a reserve guard in the NBA.
