NCAA Basketball: How Keyonte George can impact each team in his top 5
By Andrew Tineo
Texas Longhorns
The leader in the clubhouse in the recruitment for George is Texas. The Longhorns adding Beard has fueled the momentum and there is a lot of optimism for George to be elite in Chris Beard’s system.
Even with the amount of talent Texas has this season, a plethora of players will not be on the roster. Marcus Carr, Andrew Jones, Courtney Ramey, and Timmy Allen are all seniors and are expected to be impact players next season.
Alongside Kentucky transfer Devin Askew, George can come in and immediately become a starter and potential go-to scorer as a freshman.
One of George’s first offers came from the Longhorns, back in 2019, when Shaka Smart was in his recruitment. George has connections with Beard, as Beard recruited him while at Texas Tech and brought George in for an official visit, prior to COVID, in February 2020.
The placement of George within Beard’s system and Beard’s ability to recruit at a high level makes Texas a top option for the guard from Lewisville, Texas.
The Longhorns have a bright future, especially with the addition of four-star point guard Arterio Morris, who attends the same high school as George.
Keeping the backcourt together in college is a huge advantage the Longhorns have and look to be the team most likely to acquire the services of the blue-chip gem.
