NBA Draft 2021: Final projections of first 30 draft selections

This is a no-brainer for any team with the No.1 pick. Cunningham has been considered the best prospect all season. And is a once in a generation player and the perfect player to lead Detroit’s rebuild.
Cunningham has a rare blend of size, playmaking ability, and shooting. He is an outstanding finisher at the rim and outstanding at playing off the ball and always knows where to be on the court.
Cunningham will need to work on guarding defenders one on one but has outstanding upside for it. The Big 12 Player of the Year could also benefit from expanding his dribble package to make up for his lack of elite explosiveness.
Detroit doesn’t have much of a young core besides Saddiq Bey who had a nice season. They will need to look and move on from last year’s lottery pick Killian Hayes who also plays point guard. I think Detroit will also try to move on from Jerami Grant who had a breakout season.
Whatever Detroit does decide to do, they have a generational talent in Cunningham to lead them through a rebuild.
