Texas Tech Red Raiders

Texas Tech’s basketball program has established a winning culture over the last several years including an Elite 8 and national championship appearance. While they lost Chris Beard to Texas, they were able to retain top assistant and defensive mastermind Mark Adams which has already proved to be a very good move for the Red Raiders as they currently sit at #24 in ESPN’s way-too-early top-25 and have put together a legitimate Big-12 contending team.

When you look at the Texas Tech roster, they’ve brought in a multitude of transfers and many of them will not be eligible after this season. If you combine that with their lack of guard depth this opens the door for young guys like Williams to potentially get early playing time.

Overall, Williams appears to be a good scheme fit for what Mark Adams is looking to do on both ends of the ball which is playing tough no-middle defense and run an up-tempo offense centered around attacking the paint and playing aggressively.

Having a high motor will be a must in Texas Tech’s system and Williams is widely regarded as one of the higher energy guards in the class of 2022. If Texas Tech can put together a solid body of work this upcoming season, I’d expect their recruiting success to continue in future years.
