Oklahoma State Cowboys

Mike Boynton has done a great job at Oklahoma State establishing a winning culture and recruiting at a high level. Boynton was of course able to land the presumed 2021 #1 draft pick Cade Cunningham and has put together some very good recruiting classes the last few seasons.

Oklahoma State certainly isn’t lacking at the guard position with Avery Anderson, Chris Harris Jr, Rondel Walker, Bryce Thompson, etc all having multiple years of eligibility remaining. This could make it tough for Williams to earn playing time in his freshman season depending on how many of their current guards remain on the roster heading into 2022-23. I’m not sure this would be a big factor for Williams but it’s something to keep an eye on.

Boynton is another coach that values defense and he saw his team put up the 17th best adjusted defensive efficiency rating last season while also registering a top-25 adjusted tempo rating on offense per KenPom.

Williams would certainly be a good fit in Boynton’s scheme but will likely have competition at the guard spot that could limit his playing time early on.
