You might not believe me but there was a point and time this offseason when Kansas was looking for a point guard. They knew Marcus Garrett was going pro and were after a number of targets but kept missing out. However, 1st-Team All-Pac 12 star guard Remy Martin entered the portal from Arizona State and quickly moved towards Kansas, giving them the star guard that they were missing.

That was the cherry on top of a near-perfect offseason for the program, which had plenty of good news. The starting frontcourt duo of David McCormack and Jalen Wilson both elected to return for another season, as well as Ochai Agbaji, the team’s leading scorer and one of the best two-way players in the country.

And as if the backcourt wasn’t good enough, Drake transfer Joseph Yusefu and 7th-year double-digit scoring guard Jalen Coleman-Lands gives them the most perimeter depth in the country. Sharpshooter Christian Braun gives them a lethal three-point shooter, while D-II transfer big Cam Martin adds more frontcourt depth.

Add the offseason pickups of center Zuby Ejiofor and four-star wing Gradey Dick in the 2022 class, the Jayhawks are winning for both this and next year. And maybe the most important thing is that the NCAA is preoccupied with trying to exist after recent court rulings and is too busy to deal with Kansas and potential sanctions for the upcoming season regarding alleged improper recruiting conduct. So there won’t be a ban for the program for sure this upcoming season.
