Transfers

One of the transfers that the Tigers brought in was Walker Kessler from North Carolina. Kessler didn’t get consistent playing time under Roy Williams, but when the opportunity was in front of him he made the most out of it. Walker portrays terrific length at the power forward position and places himself in the best position for rebounding and putbacks.

The sophomore is also an active defensive presence that shows terrific footwork and anticipation in protecting the basket. With the absence of JT Thor, Kessler will likely fill in that role with the versatility he portrays on the floor.

Another transfer is Wendell Green Jr from Eastern Kentucky, a player who I believe will be the star of the show for the Tigers. In his freshman season, Green averaged 15.8 points along with five assists on 39 percent shooting. Green is a player who can torch the defense from inside and out with his versatility.

He keeps the defense moving and draws a lot of attention as he gathers into his shot. He may not be the passer that Sharife Cooper was, but Green understands how to keep his teammates involved within the offense. Being the primary ball handler in coach Pearl’s system will open up plenty of opportunities on offense for Green and the rest of the team.

The Tigers were also able to bring in seniors Zep Jasper from College of Charleston as well. Three transfers with experience at the college level will benefit the team tremendously. Now it’ll be about coach Pearl putting the pieces together and figuring out how to make each player successful.
