2. Brady Manek

The 6-9 Oklahoma transfer will likely be the first player off the bench or at least the first big off the pine. He will provide the Heels with veteran leadership, floor spacing, and shooting.

"“Brady is the perfect player for what we wanted and what we needed,” Davis said after Manek signed with the Tar Heels. “We needed a player that had size, but from an offensive standpoint, had the versatility to score around the basket with either hand and be just as effective on the perimeter. And that’s what Brady has done for four seasons at Oklahoma. He’s not just a shooter, even though he’s a great three-point shooter. He can handle the ball, can put it on the floor and make plays and is an excellent passer. Plus, he’s a really good defender and rebounder.”"

Manek will look to bounce back from his worst collegiate season last year, compiling 10.8 points along with 5.0 caroms while shooting 42.2% from the field and 37.5% from beyond the arc.

1. Dawson Garcia

The 6-11 is a surpise addition as he entered the transfer portal after withdrawing from the NBA draft. Garcia was impressive during the G-League Elite camp, demonstrating a knack of scoring in the post and on hustle plays, tallying several baskets after rolling to the hoop.

He demonstrated excellent footwork, the ability to finish with either hand, and the ability to knock down face-up jumpers. He also rebounded the ball well but struggled with his playmaking and on the defensive end. Garcia is expected to start alongside Armando Bacot to give the Heels one of the top starting frontcourts in the nation.

"“We recruited Dawson in high school because we thought he’d be a perfect fit here,” Davis  said in a released statement. “He’s talented and versatile, has size and athleticism and can be dominant on both ends of the floor."

The Minnesota native produced 13 points, 6.6 rebounds (2.1 offensive), and 1.0 3-pointers while shooting 48% from the field and 35.6% from beyond the arc. He scored in double-figure 18 times and recorded one double-double.

Bottom Line: First, I believe Davis was a fantastic choice for the Tar Heels and will do an outstanding job in all facets for UNC. And while this recruiting class, doesn’t have a lot of flash, Garcia is going to be a star, and Manek and McKoy are steady college veterans.

Davis who was a major part of Williams’ recruiting team, has already shown that he can secure big-time recruits — not only Dunn and Styles — but the first-time head coach’s 2022 class is already highly regarded with verbal commitments from 5-star center Jalen Washington, 4-star point guard Seth Trimble, and 3-star center Will Shaver.
