Big 12 Basketball: Top 10 point guards entering 2021-22 season
By Andrew Tineo
5. Nijel Pack, Kansas State
2020-2021 stats: 12.7 PPG, 3.8 APG, 40% 3P
Although the season in Manhattan didn’t turn out well, Pack was the biggest bright spot for the Wildcats.
Pack consistently produced go-to scorer performances, with three 20+ point games and over a dozen double-digit performances as a freshman.
During Kansas State’s four-game winning streak prior to the end of their season, Pack faltered, before a strong 23 point performance against TCU.
That performance was followed by 18 more in their season-finishing loss to Baylor in the Big 12 Quarterfinals.
The Wildcats as a whole last year were extremely young, and return a majority of their impact players, including super senior Mike McGuirl.
Pack was the exact player Kansas State needed, to show growth and potential for the Wildcats in 2021-2022. With the core of Pack, McGuirl, and center Davion Bradford, the Wildcats can shock a few teams and are capable of upsets.
