Samson Johnson

Forward/Center, 6’10”, 205 pounds

247Sports Composite Ranking: 4-star, 54th nationally

Samson Johnson is yet another Jersey product joining the Huskies. Diggins was quick to recruit Johnson as well and it didn’t take long to reel him in. In fact, Diggins and Johnson have played together during the SLAM16 event in November, giving fans a small glimpse of the future. Johnson chose the Huskies over offers from Cincinnati, St. John’s, and others. He joins his former high school teammate Adama Sanogo on the Huskies.

Samson Johnson may end up being one of the biggest sleepers of the 2021 class. Yes, he finished as a highly ranked recruit after climbing the rankings throughout his senior season, but his production sky-rocketed. He was perhaps overshadowed during his high school career, playing alongside Jonathan Kuminga and behind Adama Sanogo.

As a senior Johnson finally got to shine and showcase his abilities. He may be soft-spoken, but he lets his game do the talking. According to MaxPreps, he nearly averaged a double-double for The Patrick School, pouring in 13.6 PPG and 9.4 RBG. He is also a tenacious defender and shot-blocker, averaging 3.4 blocks a game as a senior.

Johnson has an all-around game that is suited for today’s NBA. He has been bulking up but needs to continue adding strength. He is a stretch-forward who can defend as well as step out and hit threes. With Johnson in the mix, look for the Huskies frontcourt to continue the shot-blocking dominance that they were once known for.
