NCAA Basketball Recruiting: 10th-rated PG Milos Uzan releases top 8 list

2. Arizona State Sun Devils
Despite bringing in some strong talent to the roster, the Sun Devils were not able to translate that into wins on the court last season. Head coach Bobby Hurley’s roster suffered numerous injuries and hurdles to face during the year resulting in less than desired outcomes. This offseason has also seen nine players leave the program for one reason or another and has drastically changed the makeup at Arizona State.
Hurley has signed proven and experienced transfers in an attempt to mitigate the massive loss of talent from his ranks this offseason. Bringing in Marreon Jackson (Toledo), Jay Heath (Boston College), and DJ Horne (Illinois State), in addition to Luther Muhammad (Ohio State) from the previous offseason, would normally not be a great sign for a potential recruit of Uzan’s caliber. However, Hurley’s style is very guard-centric and he provides a lot of minutes to a large number of players on a nightly basis.
The guard by committee approach has been noted as enticing to Uzan when speaking on the program. His all-around production is a beneficial piece for Hurley to add and the ability to come in right away to secure valuable minutes is something that’s difficult to pass up. His recent move to Dream City Christian (AZ) will put him in the Sun Devil’s backyard for Hurley to continue chipping away at signing the talented guard.
1. UNLV Rebels
The Rebels struggled to find their footing in TJ Otzelberger’s 2nd season but under new head coach Kevin Kruger, may be scratching their heads again in 2021 after suffering massive losses to transfer this offseason. With many new faces expecting to join UNLV’s roster, the program is fortunate to return leading scorer Bryce Hamilton for another go-around. The additions of Jordan McCabe (West Virginia) and Donovan Williams (Texas) alongside him create big opportunities for both players to showcase themselves in a more pronounced role.
Kruger is hoping to create momentum with this year’s group to subsequently gain momentum on the recruiting trail. Uzan is a native of Las Vegas and has mentioned previously what it would be like to play for the “hometown” team. This is what he told Joe Tipton of On3.com:
"“I think it would be pretty special (to stay home). All your friends and your people could come to the games. I feel like it’s cooler to play close to home. I like their coaching staff. I went on an unofficial the other day. They have nice facilities too. It hasn’t been packed in a long time, so it would be cool to be the reason why you know and get some wins.”"
Uzan would undoubtedly receive a lion’s share of minutes when he joined the program and would have every chance to put his full arsenal of skills on display. His productivity on both ends of the court is something this team can rally around and generate momentum to compete in the Mountain West Conference.
Being from the area, Uzan can also act as the perfect recruiter alongside Kruger to develop and build a strong class to bolster the Rebels’ future via transfer or traditional means.
