10. Wisconsin Badgers

Home & Away – Indiana, Michigan State, Minnesota, Nebraska, Ohio State, Purdue, Rutgers
Home Only – Iowa, Michigan, Penn State
Away Only – Illinois, Maryland, Northwestern

Ho hum, Ohio State and Purdue are very good teams and it is unfortunate that the Badgers have to play them twice, the bigger problem for the Badgers is how are they going to keep the pace of play under 66 possessions per game – fewest in Big Ten last season – with just two seniors on the team. Add the fact that four of their top five scorers have departed, maintaining their modest 69.9 points per game will be difficult.

Cincinnati grad transfer Chris Vogt will help protect the paint at 7’1, 260-pounds versus Williams of Purdue when they battle twice this season. Indiana and Michigan State look to be in the top six teams that Wisconsin will be hard-pressed to defeat as the Michigan State backcourt has the advantage over the Badgers’ and for Indiana Trayce Jackson- Davis of the Hoosiers can draw Vogt out of the key.

Nebraska projects to be behind Wisconsin in the standings, but when they go head-to-head, Nebraska’s ability to play nine players who can contribute will enable head coach Fred Hoiberg to push the pace of play on the seven deep Badgers, and can very well split the home and home games.

The home-court advantage versus Iowa is a highlighted benefit as the Badgers will be battling Iowa in the standings. Michigan at home is a wasted game as even home court will not be enough. The same can be said for the home game versus Penn State, as the Badgers should be able to beat them regardless. The Badgers’ efforts to win more than six games this season are hampered by having to visit Maryland and Northwestern, do not be surprised if the Wildcats’ victory puts them ahead of the Badgers by the season’s end.
