NCAA Basketball: Top 25 high-major Junior College transfers for 2021-22 season
6. G El Ellis – Louisville Cardinals
Junior College: Tallahassee Community College
Considered to be the best guard prospect in the 201 JUCO class, Ellis is a 6’3 guard that is both an outstanding passer and scorer. He led Tallahassee with 17.7 ppg and 4.3 apg on solid shooting splits. That includes a 23-point and 10-assist game against Chipola and a season-high 34 points versus St. Petersburg. He doesn’t always have to have the ball in his hands to have an impact and Ellis may be the best pure passer on the current roster for the Cardinals.
Ellis would be higher on this list had it not been for the recent pickup of Western Carolina and former Colorado commit Mason Faulkner, who joins a now-crowded backcourt alongside Florida guard Noah Locke and Marshall grad transfer Jarrod West. Yet still, Ellis has the highest ceiling of the group and after missing out on Jay Scrubb a year ago, Louisville will hope to strike gold with this top-tier JUCO transfer.
5. F Tim Dalger – Tulsa Hurricanes
Junior College: Independence
The Hurricanes have the previously mentioned Nikita Konstantynovskyi as a key big man but they need plenty more scoring production to have a chance in the AAC. That’s where I think Dalger, a 6’7 wing that averaged 18.4 ppg and 8.1 rpg last season on 48% shooting from the field and 34% from deep. That includes 10 games of 20+ scoring, including twice going for 28 points. He’s a good athlete and all-around scorer and is a natural small forward that can plug right in and be a key contributor.

Tulsa doesn’t return anyone that averaged over 8.0 ppg last season and unless any of the returning players break out, the team could be hurting for some offense. That presents a great opportunity for Dalger, who has real potential to lead them in scoring.
4. C Souleymane Doumbia – TCU Horned Frogs
Junior College: Navarro
Although his numbers dipped this past season, Doumbia’s freshman campaign solidified him as one of the top big men in the 2021 JUCO class. At 6’10 and 220 pounds, the Ivory Coast native is an elite shot-blocker and overall defender, while having a growing offensive game. At bare minimum, Doumbia will be an All-Big 12 defender and has a chance to average a double-double if he’s on the court long enough.
That very well could happen, as the Horned Frogs lost starting center Kevin Samuel to the transfer portal, part of a complete roster overall. The good news is that Doumbia and Texas A&M transfer forward Emanuel Miller would be a nice frontcourt duo for the team, as one is a quality scorer and the other is a quality defender. Don’t be shocked if this big replicates Samuel’s production from last season while being an even better interior defender.
