Virginia Tech Basketball: Analyzing Hokies 2021 incoming recruiting class
2. Sean Pedulla
Pedulla is a 3-star rated prospect that picked the Hokies over Oklahoma State and Minnesota. He ranks 136th in the class and is the No. 10 point guard in the class. He’s a strong 6-foot-1 point guard that can fill it up and make plays off the bounce. He’s an unselfish player that exudes confidence on all three levels with his ability to control the pace and should boost the Hokies backcourt off the bench in 2021-22.
Pedulla opened a ton of eyes in Summer 2019 with Team Buddy Buckets as he led them to some impressive wins. He’s got good instincts off the catch and off the bounce as a perimeter threat and is fearless in traffic as well. He put up 19.8 ppg as a high school senior.
1. Storm Murphy
Murphy probably carries the biggest impact for Virginia Tech basketball given recent news that Wabissa Bede won’t be returning for the 2021-22 season. While Murphy will probably take on a majority of the ballhandling duties, look for Hunter Cattoor and Sean Pedulla to play some at the point as well.
He’s familiar with ACC foes already with 15 points on five made 3-pointers in an upset victory over the UNC Tar Heels back in 2019-20. He played for Mike Young from 2017-19, so he shouldn’t have a hard time adjusting to Young’s style of play, either.
In 2020-21, Murphy posted 17.8 ppg, 4.3 apg, 3.3 rpg, and 1.0 spg while shooting 40 percent from 3-point range. With better talent on the floor, he’s got the potential to be very special for the Hokies in 2021-22.
