NCAA Basketball: 12 potential milestones to watch for 2021-22 season
Naz Bohannon – Clemson
Milestone: 1,000 career rebounds
Speaking of milestones that will be reached this season, the surest of things will be 6’6 forward Naz Bohannon reaching 1,000 career boards. After collecting 990 rebounds during 119 games with Youngstown State, – unless an injury occurs – Bohannon will reach this milestone with the Clemson Tigers. It is not so much about the journey, but more about where the journey will end.
It was during the 2020-21 25-game abbreviated schedule that Bohannon had his least effective season on the boards when he grabbed 205. His best season was the 284 he tallied up over thirty-three games as a junior. This season, Bohannon will not only be the starting small forward for Clemson, but he immediately becomes their top rebounder. His 8.2 rebounds per game are almost two more than Aamir Simms’ 6.6 last season.
Bohannon’s milestone journey does not have to end when he reaches 1,000, transferring to Clemson means he is on a team that shot just 42 percent and was unable to crack the top 250 in the nation. Bohannon and Clemson will mutually benefit from this relationship and Bohannon will not have to settle for 1,000 rebounds, but a season with 272 rebounds would put Bohannon in the top-25 all-time. Being at the doorstep of various milestones as he has 292 assists, 84 steals, and 1,236 points, there might be a reason for several celebrations at Clemson this season.
