Florida State Basketball: Analyzing Seminoles 2021 incoming recruiting class
2. Caleb Mills
Mills has two years left of eligibility after spending two seasons with the Houston Cougars from 2019-21. He was named the preseason AAC Player of the Year in 2020-21 before stepping away for personal reasons after their game against Tulsa on Dec. 29.
He put up 9.8 ppg, 1.3 rpg, and 1.3 spg through four games in 2020-21 before his season was cut short. Back in 2019-20, Mills put up 13.2 ppg, 2.7 rpg, and 1.1 apg while shooting 36.5 percent from 3-point land off the bench.
He should bolster a Florida State basketball backcourt in need of some experience with just RayQuan Evans running things in 2021-22. As a two-way presence, he could find himself in the starting lineup.
1. Matthew Cleveland
Cleveland is a five-star prospect out of Pace Academy (GA). He put up 22.8 ppg, 10.6 rpg, 2.6 apg and 2.0 spg this past season as a high school senior to take home the Metro Atlanta Player of the Year award.
He’s a downhill threat that uses his athleticism to get through traffic and finish with authority. He’s got the ability to play multiple roles on the floor and gives the Florida State basketball yet another top prospect to keep an eye on.
He’s probably one of the more dynamic prospects in their recruiting class. There’s a Scottie Barnes feel to his game with his versatility and length at 6-foot-7 and a whole lot of draft possibility surrounding his game.
