NCAA Basketball Recruiting: Analyzing top 9 teams for 2022 wing Ty Rodgers
Rhode Island Rams
With the loss of leading scorer Fatts Russell, Rhode Island will be looking for someone to step up and be the go-to guy for the future. If not, they’ll struggle to keep up with the top teams in the Atlantic 10, such as Dayton, VCU, and Richmond.
While the league is a step below the power conferences, the Rams can offer Rodgers the chance to be the go-to option for however long he wants to be around. And while the odds of making the NCAA Tournament are lower here, getting drafted isn’t as recent examples such as Nah’Shon Hyland and Obi Toppin proved that the A-10 can send players to the NBA.
Xavier Musketeers
Another Big East option, the Musketeers are primed for a big season thanks to several upperclassmen returning for another year. Once they’re gone, there will be a need for a new core of players to lead the way.
The problem is that Xavier already has a four-star wing commit in the 2022 class in Tyrell Ward, a player fairly similar to Rodgers. And they also added Indiana transfer forward Jerome Hunter and three-star freshman Elijah Tucker. Plus, this program has always been transfer-friendly, which would complicate the path to playing time even more. Similar to Memphis, I don’t see the Musketeers being a real contender at the end of this recruitment.
