Small Forward

UVA basketball could find themselves running a three-guard rotation in 2021-22 given their lack of length at the wing spot. Armaan Franklin could find himself starting after all at the small forward position, though at 6-foot-4, it leaves the Cavaliers a bit undersized.

Franklin can still hold his own at 204 pounds and his numbers have also shown he isn’t afraid to mix it up down low. He grabbed 4.1 rpg in 2020-21, a career-high with a boosted role in the Indiana basketball rotation. With a greater responsibility with UVA basketball, he could find starter minutes as a hybrid guard-forward.

They’ve got 6-foot-7 Kody Stattman in the lineup, but he’s a bit limited in the experience department. He appeared in just four games in 2020-21 due to a non-related Covid-19 heart issue.

Taine Murray is a 6-foot-5, 207-pound new addition from New Zealand. He’s got some international experience under his belt with the Auckland Huskies in the New Zealand National Basketball League in 2019-20. He produced 18.0 ppg, 4.0 rpg, and 3.0 apg while shooting 43.5 percent from behind the arc.

He’s a player that knows his way around the floor a bit. Don’t be surprised if he’s a budding name on this 3-point shooter-friendly offense.
