2. Tyler Kolek

Tyler Kolek (George Mason) is set to make waves in Big East basketball. He’s a 6-foot-3 guard with a knack for making things happen on the floor. He had a strong debut season at George Mason in 2020-21, averaging 10.8 ppg, 3.6 rpg, 2.3 apg, and 1.3 spg to earn first-team All-Atlantic 10 Freshman honors and Atlantic 10 Rookie of the Year award.

Kolek isn’t afraid to get downhill and get to the rim with nice finishes through traffic. He also finished fourth in A10 basketball in 3-pointers made (53) and shot 35.8 percent from 3-point range. He generated a 100.6 defensive rating against a 110.2 offensive rating in just his first college season. He also finished 11th in the conference in steals (28).

With his ability to affect the game on both ends, look for Kolek to develop into quite the player in the Marquette basketball program.

1. Darryl Morsell

Darryl Morsell joins the Marquette basketball rotation after four seasons with the Maryland Terrapins. He posted 9.0 ppg, 4.0 rpg, and 2.8 apg while making 48.6 percent of his shots from the field.

Last year’s Big Ten Defensive Player of the Year and first-team All-Big Ten defensive selection looks to make a similar case in the Big East basketball ranks. He’ll be an early impact player on the wing set to give Marquette basketball an identity in Year 1 under Shaka Smart.

The 6-foot-5, 200-pound brings versatility on the wing and rebounding and playmaking in other facets of the game. He’ll be one to watch out of the grad-transfer market.
