4. Davonte Gaines

Davonte Gaines joins the George Mason basketball roster after two seasons in the Tennessee basketball lineup. His production dipped in 2020-21 after he posted 2.5 ppg and 1.9 rpg across 29 appearances and 10.4 minutes per contest in 2019-20.

In 2020-21, his production dropped to less than a point and a rebound per game across 19 appearances and 3.6 minutes per contest before he hit the transfer portal and landed in the Atlantic 10 with the Patriots.

The 6-foot-7 swingman will look to make a name for himself at his new destination with room in the rotation for a starting forward. Look for him to challenge for minutes with SEC basketball experience under his belt already.

3. Joel Kabimba

Joel Kabimba is a forward prospect that appeared for the past two seasons with Stetson University before hitting the transfer portal and landing with George Mason basketball. He averaged 5.3 ppg and 3.3 rpg across 44 appearances (32 starts) from 2019-21 in the Atlantic Sun Conference.

He shot 47.1 percent from the field while showing off his ability to clean up on the offensive glass. As a freshman, he finished 18th in the A-Sun in offensive rebounds with 39 total in his last full season.

He’ll look to fill the void left by the departure of A.J. Wilson (South Carolina) with his length and versatility at 6-foot-8, though he won’t have nearly the same impact.
