Expectations for Michael Ertel in 2021-22

UAB has high expectations entering the season. Honestly, most of their fans have high expectations every year and expect the team to play in the NCAA tournament every season. The Blazers usually have a team that is going to compete for the Conference USA crown or at least be in the mix. This year is going to be no different, UAB has stocked the roster full of talent from either really good mid-major schools or some power schools. The roster also has a ton of experience.

Ertel is likely going to be one of the best players in the league on the offensive and defensive end. He should receive some recognition by earning first-team all-conference honors. The Blazers have a chance to be really good this season and that can only help with Ertel becoming a household name. He has a knack for big games in the biggest games for his team. If UAB can make the tournament watch out as he has the ability to go off for big points at any time.

The senior guard is going to have a tremendous amount of help. UAB was one of the best defensive teams in the country a season ago and they return both Defensive Player of the Year candidates in big man Trey Jemison and guard Quan Jackson.

All-Conference USA second-team player Tavin Lovan and South Alabama transfer Tyreke Locure are both very dynamic point guards. Auburn transfer Jalen Johnson and South Florida transfer Justin Brown are both tremendous three-point shooters. UAB might be very good this year and they could be looking at a second weekend of the Big Dance if things go right.
