Georgetown: Kaiden Rice and Timothy Ighoefe

Decrease in production: Kaiden Rice

Scorers score and scoring are exactly what Kaiden Rice has been doing the past four seasons in the Southern Conference while starting for Citadel. The 6’5 guard increased his scoring average every season, culminating with averaging over seventeen points per game on over fourteen field goal attempts.

Make no mistake Rice will score with the Hoyas and playing on the perimeter will enable him to demonstrate his 35 percent from behind the arc, he just will not be attempting over ten per game. He will also not average 17.6 points, as only Julian Champagnie (19.8 ppg), James Bouknight (18.7 ppg), and Sandro Mamukelashvili (17.5) averaged over seventeen points in the Big East during the 2020-21 season.

Increase in production: Timothy Ighoefe

Head Coach Patrick Ewing loves a center that can be effective. During the 2017-18 season 6’10 Jesse Govan averaged 17.9 points, in the 2018-19 Govan averaged 17.5. Coach Ewing moved on to 7’0  Omer Yurtseven who averaged 15.5 and last season it was 6’11 Qudus Wahab with 15.5 points per game.

This season it will be the 7’0 Timothy Ighoefe to anchor the paint for Coach Ewing. Ighoefe averaged fewer than three points over nine minutes last season, numbers he will drastically surpass this season. Ighoefe will not post the same impressive numbers in his third year as the previous centers, but this season will reveal every indication of an even greater breakout during the 2022-23 season.
