6. Chandler Lawson

Chandler Lawson is the second transfer set to join the Memphis basketball rotation after spending two seasons with the Oregon Ducks. He produced 4.4 ppg, 3.5 rpg, and 1.1 apg across 59 appearances with the Ducks from 2019-21 and looks for a fresh start in a return closer to home.

He’s a 6-foot-8, 205-pound forward that joins his brother, Johnathan, in the class and re-joins head coach Penny Hardaway. Hardaway coached Lawson at East High back in 2018 when they won a state championship. They’ll look to rework their magic at the college level in 2021-22.

5. Johnathan Lawson

Johnathan Lawson is the younger brother of Chandler and the third freshman in their recruiting class making their college debut. He won three state titles at three different high schools during his prep career. As a senior, he posted 16 points, six assists, and five rebounds in Houston High’s (TN) state title victory this past season.

He’s a 6-foot-6 versatile playmaker with good instincts getting downhill and making plays for himself and others. He’ll look to keep the family’s legacy alive as he becomes the fourth Lawson brother to play for Memphis basketball, joining K.J., Dedric, and Chandler in the fold.
