Key returning players for 2021-22 season

FGCU also owns a plethora of returners from a team a season ago that was two wins away from reaching the NCAA tournament before dropping at the hands of North Alabama in the Atlantic Sun semifinals. The Eagles leading scorer of that contest, Jalen Warren is gone after averaging over 12 ppg but the Eagles returns a pair of key guards in Cyrus Largie and Caleb Gatto.

The leading scorer crown for Florida Gulf Coast was Largie, who averaged 13.4 points per contest last season. Catto, who is coming off of an offseason hip surgery, was the Eagles leader in 3 point field goal percentage at 39.2% while Largie shot an impressive 55% from the field doing most of his damage from beneath the three-point line.

Luis Rolon was the leader in assists for the Eagles at 5.2 per contest while Dakota Rivers recorded 35 blocks to lead the team. Both players are back for Coach Fly and company and both look to make an impact along with fellow returners.

Lastly, Andre Weir, who did not appear in any games last year, after transferring from Richmond following the fall semester of his freshman year, may make some noise as well this year. Weir was ranked 16th in the 2020 class on FloridaHoops.com, a class that was loaded with four first-round picks including the top overall pick in Caleb Cunningham and Scottie Barnes.

With lots of minutes coming back from a team a year ago that was on the younger side, another year of development will be beneficial.
