Key reserves

Forward – Alonzo Gaffney, Junior

Alonzo Gaffney joins the Arizona State basketball lineup after spending the past season at Northwest Florida State College where he honed his skill as a stretch-forward with good rim protection skills. He averaged 8.4 ppg, 5.3 rpg, 1.4 apg and 1.2 bpg in 2020-21 while shooting 33.3 percent from 3-point range.

He’s a 6-foot-9 forward with a year of Division I experience under his belt already after spending the 2019-20 season at Ohio State. He’ll look to find his bearings again at the DI level on the Pac-12 basketball stage.

Guard – D.J. Horne, Junior

D.J. Horne is another addition out of the transfer portal from Illinois State that’s set to make a big impact in the Sun Devils’ backcourt. He’s a 6-foot-1 guard that posted 15.1 ppg, 3.7 rpg, 2.7 apg and 1.5 apg for the Redbirds as an All-MVC third-team selection. He shot 42.4 percent from behind the arc while making 2.5 shots from behind the arc. He’ll look to bring a similar pedigree to the Arizona Basketball rotation as one of their first guards off that bench that could play heavy minutes.

Center – Enoch Boakye, Frosh.

Enoch Boakye is a prized freshman recruit in the Sun Devils’ 2021 recruiting class set to make quite the impact in the frontcourt in 2021-22.  The 6-foot-10 big man reclassified from 2022 into the 2021 class, choosing Arizona State basketball over the likes of Illinois, Texas Tech, Maryland, and Oklahoma State. He’s a long, wiry prospect with huge upside that should strengthen their paint presence right away with the potential to be a starter down the road.

Forward/Center – Will Felton, Frosh.

Will Felton is another underrated name in the Sun Devils frontcourt that should make a splash off the bench. He posted 15.6 ppg and 8.1 rpg after spending his senior season at Hargrave Military Academy while shooting 74 percent. He’s a big man with a 6-foot-11 wingspan and good length around the rim that should turn Arizona State basketball fans’ heads this season.
