The Spartans frontcourt played outstanding basketball against WMU

The Michigan State big men dominated on the glass tonight and were able to put up many points against the Broncos frontcourt. Hauser set the tone on the defensive end, while Bingham stepped up on the offensive end for the Spartans starting frontcourt. Hall and Julius Marble played well off the bench for Michigan State and Mady Sissoko saw extended playing time and contributed.

It is not to say that the Michigan State guards did not play well, because they play very well, especially in the second half. The Spartans frontcourt was somewhat of a question mark entering the season. After not a bad performance against Kanas, the Michigan State big men played outstanding overall against Western Michigan.

Bingham and Hauser both ended up with 12 points apiece, while Hall contributed with eight and Marble with five. Hauser dominated on the glass with twelve rebounds and Bingham had eight and Marble with six on the glass. Bingham and Marble both had two blocks each. Brown who is considered more of a wing that stands at 6’8″, played well especially in the second half, and ended the game with a team-high 17 points making all seven of his free throws and grabbing down seven rebounds.

This win over Western Michigan wasn’t an eye-opener on the development of the Spartans but it showed that the Michigan State big men are developing and continuing to grow and play well on both ends of the court. Bingham and Hauser have shown that they will more than likely be the starters moving forward with Hall being a very good sixth man, and Marble continuing to get better game by game.
