12. Kentucky Wildcats (1-1)

A spirited effort by the Wildcats wasn’t enough to beat Duke in the end, falling 79-71 in the Champions Classic. But it was an impressive performance by both Oscar Tshiebwe (17 points and 20 rebounds), along with fellow transfer Sahvir Wheeler (16 points and 10 assists). Tshiebwe went for another 20 rebounds in the team’s 100-60 beatdown of Robert Morris, one of six Wildcats in double-figure scoring.

Kentucky should have another easy battle with Mount St. Mary’s on Monday but the matchup with Ohio, who has been very impressive to start out the season, will be a tough one. They have the bigs to at least both Tshiebwe and a great guard in Mark Sears. Should be a fun one on Friday.

11. Oregon Ducks (2-0)

The Ducks had little issues with Texas Southern and SMU to open the season, both of which ended with 20-point wins. Will Richardson has taken the star scoring role (19.0 ppg), while transfers Jacob Young and Quincy Guerrier have played a good part as well. Eric Williams, De’Vion Harmon, and Rivaldo Soares have all averaged double figures too to this point.

Oregon had a major matchup on Tuesday against the BYU Cougars, who could be ranked if they get this win themselves. Richardson vs Alex Barcello will be a great backcourt matchup, while the versatile forwards on both sides will play a big part in this game.

10. Memphis Tigers (2-0)

The Tigers have flown under the radar since they haven’t played anyone of note (Tennessee Tech and NC Central), so they’ve cruised to two easy wins. But Emoni Bates (16.0 ppg) and Jalen Duren have looked good in their debuts for the program, while guards Earl Timberlake, Lester Quinones, and Landers Nolley are providing solid backcourt production.

The level completion takes a leap this week, with Saint Louis and Western Kentucky coming to town. Although they aren’t power conference opponents, both teams have top-100 talent on their respective rosters and should provide a better glimpse on this Memphis roster.
