5. Colorado State Rams (9-0)

The Rams have at times looked like a top-10 team in the country, and at others, should’ve easily had taken a loss or two by now. There were games against Bradley, Northern Colorado, and Northeastern where they were down by double-digits at one point and had to stage a late comeback to win.

But when Colorado State is good, they’re very good. They started out the season with 109 points in regulation against last year’s Cinderella Oral Roberts. The Rams also dropped 95 points against Big East program Creighton and easily took care of Saint Mary’s at home last week.

This team is currently top-10 nationally in scoring at 85.3 ppg, led by star forward David Roddy, going for 20.9 ppg and 7.8 rpg through nine games. Guard Isaiah Stevens is one of the nation’s leaders in assists with 7.0 ppg, along with 14.8 ppg. Forwards Dischon Thomas and John Tonje have been good up front, with the Rams overall playing nine guys in the rotation.

Colorado State is in the top-25 rankings and currently has an at-large resume but can bolster it up even more in its next three neutral site games against Tulsa, Mississippi State, and Alabama. Win two of those three and this team is looking good heading into the Mountain West portion of the schedule, now the prohibitive favorites to win.
