6. Kansas (9-1)

One of the Blue Blood programs of college basketball, Kansas certainly looks the part of a national title threat once again this season. Bill Self has led the Jayhawks to just one title during his nearly two decades in Lawrence, but could he have another championship team this season? To this point, Kansas has taken care of most of their schedule, though it hasn’t exactly been the toughest slate of games.

First and foremost, that loss came against Dayton back during a holiday tournament in November, and it truly remains a head-scratcher. Outside of that game against the Flyers, it’s been business as usual for the Jayhawks, beginning with an opening night win against Michigan State. There really isn’t another comparable win on their resume, with the best wins coming against Iona and St. John’s.

The offense has been great (3rd in efficiency) even if the schedule hasn’t been the toughest. That loss to Dayton remains a big question mark and makes you wonder if the Jayhawks are susceptible to a similar slip up in Big 12 play. It’s hard to find a player as skilled as Ochai Agbaji on any of their conference foes, but there’s still reason for concern for the Jayhawks. They’ve had some struggles on defense, especially in the paint this season, and can’t afford to have those kinds of slips against tougher conference opponents.
