NCAA Basketball top 25 power rankings: Providence and Auburn rise, Seton Hall falls

25. Texas Tech (10-2)
First and foremost, the Big 12 is going to be a tough conference to win this season, with a slew of very talented teams in one of the nation’s deepest leagues. Even after losing head coach Chris Beard to rival Texas, it certainly looks like Texas Tech will have a say in how things turn out in the Big 12.
This past week the Red Raiders picked up one more win before conference play gets started, triumphing 75-53 over Alabama State on Tuesday. Davion Warren put up 15 points to lead all scorers and the Red Raiders got more than enough to get another easy nonconference win. They’ve racked up a ton of these kinds of wins, but do have that impressive defensive showing over Tennessee from a couple of weeks ago.
Texas Tech continues to be a strong defensive unit, and they can continue to pair that defense with a strong interior offense. The Red Raiders certainly haven’t played the toughest schedule in the world and will be challenged by some of these top teams in the Big 12. Still, they’ve got a dynamic defense, and they’ll need it, as they play Iowa State, Kansas, and Baylor in the next week and a half.
