Blake Wesley is a future lottery pick

Blake Wesley is a for sure lottery pick in this year’s upcoming draft if he wants to leave after this year. Blake Wesley will be the first Notre Dame freshman to ever be a lottery pick. If you play sports trivia this may be a question down the road and since you are reading this article you have no reason to get it wrong now.

On Twitter, it was mentioned that there were nine scouts in the building to watch North Carolina and Notre Dame from a few NBA teams. All of them got to see firsthand how impressive Blake Wesley is on the floor. If you listened to the game you heard it on the broadcast that Notre Dame just really does not get players like Blake Wesley to usually come to South Bend. The last player that resembles Blake Wesley the closest is fellow local native Demetrius Jackson who ended up staying three years.

Wesley really can just do it all. When you get the ball in his hands he can beat you off the dribble, knock it down from three, throw it down at the rim, or find his teammates as well. His game is just so smooth to watch. If you never watched Wesley play before and turned on the game tonight I bet you would not guess that he was only a freshman. He really just is the complete package. Everything just seems to come so easy for the freshman in Blake Wesley.

Usually under Mike Brey freshmen are not ready to play major minutes on older teams for Notre Dame but Wesley is definitely ready and is putting it on display every time he takes the floor. Maybe it is because of the pandemic but it is hard to believe that Blake Wesley was not a higher recruit coming out of high school.

With Notre Dame’s good recruiting class coming in next year featuring big-time recruit JJ Starling it would have been really fun to see a backcourt of Wesley and Starling. It very well could still happen if he decides he wanted to return for his sophomore year which would be awesome for college basketball. I just would not bet on it personally happening.

You never know though, it could happen. Either way if you are a college basketball junkie like myself getting to watch a player like Blake Wesley play basketball a few times a week is very fun and should not be taken for granted.
