Bradley Braves

Star forward Ja’Shon Henry continues to battle what Braves’ press releases call a ‘head injury’. Henry is working through concussion protocols. Bradley won the first two without Henry, but his presence has been sorely missed during the three ensuing conference games. All three were narrow losses (5 points, 2 points, and overtime). There is no doubt that Henry, who plays 29 minutes per game and averages over 11 points and five rebounds per game would have made a significant impact in those games.

In his absence, sophomore Jayson Kent has seen his playing time increase. During Kent’s previous ten games, he averaged 6.6 points-per-game. Since Henry’s departure, the sophomore wing is averaging 24 minutes and 11.2 points per game.

Illinois State Redbirds

Point guard Mark Freeman has an injured ankle. He played just eleven minutes in the game against Wisconsin. He missed the Redbirds loss at Valparaiso and head coach Dan Muller doesn’t expect him back soon. While saying it isn’t the dreaded ‘high-ankle sprain’, Redbird watchers say his ankle is in bad shape.

Missouri State Bears

Guard Demarcus Sharp has been on and off the Bears’ injury list. MSU started the season 3-2 before a foot injury took Sharp out of the lineup. During his eight-game absence, the team went 5-3. Sharp who has a 3-to-1 assist-to-turnover ratio, returned and the Bears won three straight, including wins over nemesis Drake and their nail-biting win over Bradley. Sharp reinjured his foot, it is back in a boot and the 6’4 junior missed the team’s loss to Northern Iowa and he was scheduled to have more x-rays on Monday.
