2. Consistency from Caleb Love

Love has shown flashes of brilliance this season. More often than not, he has looked like an All-ACC quality player who can and likely will be a first-round pick in the 2022 NBA Draft.

That said, Love has also scored 13 total points on 4-20 shooting in the team’s two blowout losses to Miami and Kentucky. In fairness, a team does not lose by nearly 30 points based on one player’s performance, but Love’s letdowns do seem to be the most drastic and impactful.

One reason for this is his usual impact. Most quality teams can overcome an off-shooting night from a role player, but turnover-filled, poor shooting games from your starting point guard and second-leading scorer? Not so easy to power through.

Love’s speed and athleticism make him a covetable prospect. His 3-point shooting has also improved dramatically this season, jumping from 26.6% a season ago to 43.7% so far this year. His potential is evident and he will certainly be a tremendous NBA player one day. For now, UNC needs to be able to rely on its All-ACC player and starting point guard in key moments. That doesn’t seem like too much to ask for.
