Making fifteen 3-point field goals

As mentioned earlier, Notre Dame had a really good shooting afternoon against Louisville overall, but especially from three. The Irish were able to make fifteen 3-pointers with seven happening in the first half and eight in the second half. When Notre Dame is able to hit that many 3-pointers you are going to find yourself winning a majority of those games. The Irish have won eight games so far this season when they are able to make at least ten 3-point field goals.

This is what makes Notre Dame such an intriguing team because of their ability to knock down threes. Whether that is knocking down threes to get back into the games if they are trailing, or extending and putting away teams late in games as they did on Saturday. The Irish have multiple guys who can hurt you from beyond the three-point line. Look no further than on Saturday where Blake Wesley, Dane Goodwin, Prentiss Hubb, and Trey Wertz all had three 3-point field goals, while Cormac Ryan had two, and Nate Laszewski had one as well.

The Irish have a lot of good shooters who can really make you pay if they get hot from the outside. When Notre Dame is able to shoot it well from outside as they did on Saturday it helps their inside game and mainly forward Paul Atkinson Jr. who scored 13 points against Louisville shooting 6 of 7 from the field.

If Notre Dame wants to potentially make a run and get back to the NCAA Tournament where they have not been since 2017 they will really need their outside shooting to continue to be really good and help them get there.
