ACC Basketball power rankings: Florida State rises, Louisville dives downward
When the Demon Deacons lost to both Louisville and Miami on the road a couple of years back, it looked as if they were going to fall back in the ACC Basketball standings. Instead, they’ve won six of seven games, with the lone loss coming to the Duke Blue Devils by 12 points.
The wins have come against Florida State by 22 points, as well as over Syracuse in overtime in the past. And after the Duke loss, Wake Forest has gone on an active four-game win streak, including road wins over Virginia and Georgia Tech and dominant offensive performances over North Carolina and Boston College.
In the 98-76 beatdown over the Tar Heels, Indiana State transfer forward Jake LaRavia went for a career-high 31 points and 10 rebounds, while Daivien Williamson had 19 and Alondes Williams put up 23 points. An important note was the return of East Tennessee State transfer Damari Monsanto, who had 13 points in 19 minutes off the bench in his season debut after dealing with an injury.
After beating up Boston College by 30 points on Monday, Wake Forest turns its attention towards Syracuse and Pittsburgh, before the schedule gets much harder and resume-building opportunities start to come. But they’ll first need to take care of business against these inferior teams to avoid a bad loss of the resume.
