The Blue Devils have remained the lone team in the ACC to be ranked for over a month but others have emerged as contenders to them in terms of conference supremacy. In particular, Miami and Florida State. The Hurricanes got the upset win a couple of weeks ago and last Tuesday, Duke fell on the road in overtime to the Seminoles, 79-78.

It was arguably the best game for Paolo Banchero this season, going for 20 points, 12 rebounds, and seven assists. Mark Williams had 15 points, while Wendell Moore chipped in with 13. Freshman guard Trevor Keels had nine points on 3/11 shooting but suffered an injury that looked serious at the moment but the prognosis seems good long-term.

Keels missed last weekend’s game at home against Syracuse but he wasn’t needed. The Blue Devils raced out to a double-digit lead just a couple of minutes in and were up by as much as 30 points before settling for a 79-59 win. Four different players scored exactly 15 points in a balanced effort, with Moore contributing with six rebounds and eight assists. Jeremy Roach, who got back into the starting lineup, had a career-high nine assists in the blowout.

After a home game against Clemson on Tuesday, Duke will go on a three-game road trip against Louisville, Notre Dame, and North Carolina. It’ll be the toughest part of the season and Keels’ status is still unknown. Will they be able to win those games without him?
