ACC Basketball power rankings: Florida State rises, Louisville dives downward
The Yellow Jackets is coming off a 50-point victory against non-D I program Clayton State and is hoping it’ll cause a spark once back in ACC Basketball play because, from a standings standpoint, they’re current last and is the only team without multiple wins.
It’s been known that the biggest issue for Georgia Tech is the lack of offense outside of leading scorer Michael Devoe. However, the team defense has been letting them down as well in the past three games. They gave up 78 points at Boston College but scored 81 to get its first league win. But in the two recent losses to both Wake Forest and North Carolina, the Yellow Jackets allowed an average of 84 ppg.
In the 23-point defeat to the Tar Heels, Jordan Usher had a team-high 22 points, but Devoe only had two points on 1/5 shooting. The duo combined for 35 points in the loss to the Demon Deacons, with the supporting cast going for 29 points in the 80-64 loss.
Things may only get rougher for the Yellow Jackets, as they have home games against Florida State and Miami at home. But if Devoe and Usher can combine for 40+ points, which they can, then they’ll have a shot at pulling off an upset.
