ACC Basketball power rankings: Florida State rises, Louisville dives downward
There was some hope that the Eagles were going to be some kind of threat in the ACC after beating Notre Dame earlier in the season but a five-game losing streak, that included a home loss to Albany, dashed any of that. And falling on the road at Pittsburgh cemented them as the clear-cut bottom team in the conference for a minute.
But Boston College has since picked things up. They defeated the Clemson Tigers in the final minute, 70-68. The trio of Makai Ashton-Langford, James Karnik, and Brevin Galloway off the bench combined for 54 of the team’s 70 total points scored.
The next win for Boston College came against Virginia Tech last week, led by Karnik going for a career-high 26 points, with guard Ashton-Langford chipping in with 18 points in the 68-63 victory. This duo has become very important for the Eagles and their chances at winning games and when they struggle, the team has no chance at winning. In the recent 30-point defeat to Wake Forest, Ashton-Langford and Karnik combined for 14 points on 4/26 from the field.
Boston College takes on North Carolina on the road before facing off against Pittsburgh at home on the weekend. That may be a very important game overall, as the loser of that one between the Eagles and Panthers may cash a ticket to last place in the standings.
