17. Connecticut (15-4)

When Connecticut prevailed over Auburn in double overtime back in November, few likely realized how big of a win that would be for the Huskies’ resume. Fortunately, the Huskies aren’t depending on that win, as they’ve been playing very solidly in conference play in the Big East. They have a great road win over Marquette and have been solid in recent weeks, picking up two more wins this week.

On Tuesday, the Huskies got a 96-73 win at home against Georgetown, putting together one of their best offensive outings of the season, led by Adama Sanogo’s 19-point performance. The Huskies completed the perfect week with a 57-50 road win at DePaul, getting 25 points from R. J. Cole in an impressive performance.

The Huskies are in a great position, but there’s a bit of an asterisk next to that 6-2 conference record. They’ve run off five straight wins over the bottom tier of conference teams and still have a lot of remaining games against the contenders, having yet to play Villanova, Xavier, or Creighton this season. If they keep this hot streak going, then they’ll be in fantastic shape, as next week brings a home date with Creighton and a tough road trip to Villanova.
