12. Texas Tech (16-5)

The more things change the more they stay the same, as Mark Adams has this Red Raiders defense playing elite basketball yet again. Perhaps more of an afterthought a few months ago, Texas Tech is a legitimate contender to win a very tough, competitive Big 12, and they play the kind of defense that carries teams to championships.

First off, there’s no reason for despair from Monday’s result, as the Red Raiders dropped a thrilling 94-91 game in double overtime at Kansas, getting 33 points from Bryson Williams in the tough loss. Texas Tech was back in the winning column this weekend, picking up a solid 76-50 win over Mississippi State, with Adonis Arms leading the team with 16 points. The Red Raiders are still perfect at home this season.

Simply put, things are going well for Texas Tech, and even in losses, they’ve looked like a fantastic program. They now sit at 5-3 in that tough Big 12, which is certainly respectable, considering they’ve already played both Kansas and Iowa State twice. Next week, they get a home date with former coach Chris Beard and Texas before a road trip to West Virginia.
